Stefan Wüger arbeitet gemeinsam mit dem Team von Dresscode21 an einer Diplomarbeit zum Thema “Life Cycle Analyse von Textilfasern”. In seiner Arbeit möchtet er den Lebenszyklus von Baumwolle, vom Anbau bis zum Recycling, durchleuchten. Hier ein erstes kurzes Update:

“Nach einigen Verzögerungen komme ich mit der Arbeit wieder gut voran und bin täglich aufs Neue fasziniert und überrascht. Die Schätze der Natur sind so umfangreich und leistungsstark, dass selbst die besten Kunstfasern nicht mithalten können. Vor allem die Vielzahl von Fasern, Rohstoffen und Verarbeitungsmethoden sind ganz neu für mich. In Gesprächen mit Freunden, Bekannten und Arbeitskollegen habe ich gesehen, dass wir sehr in unserer Wahrnehmung eingeschränkt sind und nur an Wolle, Baumwolle, Seide und Polyamide als Rohstoffe für Bekleidung denken.

Aber die Natur und der Einfallsreichtum vieler Völker hat uns eine ungemeine Anzahl an Rohstoffen geschaffen, die erst in den letzten Jahre in Europa bekannt wurden: Alpaka, Manilahanf oder Chinagras. Die daraus gewonnen Fasern sind nicht nur modern oder politisch korrekt, also Fair Trade, sondern sie bieten auch mechanische und physikalische Eigenschaften, die kaum zu kopieren sind.

Andererseits ist es erschreckend zu sehen, wie viel Leid und Umweltzerstörung ein einziges T-Shirt aus einer Großhandelskette anrichten kann. Wir glauben zwar zu wissen, dass nicht alles mit rechten Dingen zugeht, aber was unser Bedürfnis nach adäquater Kleidung für Konsequenzen hat ist kaum abzuschätzen. Leider kann ich mich in meiner Arbeit nur auf einige Aspekte konzentrieren und muss ständig aufpassen mich nicht zu sehr in der Materie zu verlieren.” (Stefan Wüger)
